Dudley Little Theatre presents, The Dresser by Ronald Harwood
More Information (Black Country Radio is not responsible for external websites)
It's 1942 - the scene is an English provincial theatre - during an air raid. Sir, one of the last great, but dying breed of English actor-managers, is taking Shakespeare to the provinces. Tonight it's Lear - or is it Othello? Or perhaps he's just getting too old and forgetful for any of it? Only faithful, insignificant Norman, his personal dresser, seems able to hold him together at all these days.
The Dresser is a funny, wonderfully observed portrait of a once great classical actor and entrepreneur, now gone to seed, and the man who sacrifices everything to keep him going.
Matinee performance on Sunday 16th.
