2 bards And A Singer
An evening of poetry and music at 7.30pm to 9pm Tuesday 22nd October.
At the Birmingham & Midland Institute, (near Snow Hill Station ,Brum)
A Unique Poetry and Song Performance in Birmingham, 22 October 2024.
On Tuesday 22 October Two Bards and a Singer will create a unique performance of poetry and song at the Birmingham Midlands Institute.
Poets frequently give readings, so why unique? Both Rod Dungate (Bard from Balsall Heath) and John (Mogs) Morris (bard from the Black Country) live with Vision Impairment, so poetry readings are out of the question for them. So they give full-blooded, lively, mesmerising performances. In this, they are joined with Worcester based singer, Rachel Jones.
The two poets are different in styles, but their work has much in common. Warmth, humanity, humour (often dark), satire and connection; as they like to say: All life is here.
Together with singer Rachel Jones, these three artists will give a genuinely fresh view on life. You will see the world differently.
Rod Dungate is an award-winning playwright and poet based in Birmingham; this marks his personal return to live performance after many years of writing and directing. His collection of Canal Based poems, Writing on Water was published by Scrubber Publications. John Morris is well known for his appearances around the Black Country; poetry has been published by Black Pear Press and APS Books. Both poets are delighted to be joined by mazing singer, Rachel Jones who is beginning to carve out a performance reputation; as well as regular singing appearances around the West Midlands, she most recently appeared in multi-media The queer Motherhood Project (Mobilise).
Two Bards and a Singer is at the BMI (Birmingham Midland Institute, The Arthur Sullivan Hall) on Tuesday 22 October, 19.30. BMI is situated in Margret Street, B3 3BS). The performance will last 90 minutes. There is no admission fee, but audience members are asked to make a contribution.
