18-year-old Blessing Chitapa took the crown on Saturday night as the ITV talent show came to an end.
Originally from Zimbabwe, Blessing moved to the UK in 2009 and lives with her family in Dudley.
Olly Murs became Blessing’s mentor after being the only judge to turn his chair around for her. Blessing said:
“This experience has taught me, if you have self-belief, you can achieve anything. There were times when I didn’t think I could do it but Olly helped me to develop my own self belief system.
“Being the second act in a row to win with Olly, makes me feel incredibly lucky. Growing up surrounded by gospel singers has let me see first hand the positive impact of music. I can’t wait to make people feel good with my music”.
Blessing’s debut single, Angels, has been produced by Grammy award winning producer, Brian Rawlings, the man behind One Direction’s ‘Up All Night’ and Bowie’s final album, ‘Heathens’. It’s available for download and stream now.
