Age Concern promotes wellbeing in the Black Country

Over 50s living in Halesowen and Stourbridge can enjoy activities to help beat the winter blues thanks to Age Concern Stourbridge and Halesowen.

The charity, who’s premise is to ensure older people tackle isolation, remain healthy and stay active runs a diary of interests and clubs. These pursuits are open to individuals no matter what age, past experience or ability and are available to view at ageconcernsh.org.uk .

David Harbach, chair of trustees said: “It is so important for older people to remain stimulated in their minds, bodies and spirits and that is why we offer such a huge range of activities for people to take part in.

"Individuals can learn how to paint their own one-of-a-kind piece of artwork at our art and craft classes, dance to their hearts content at line dancing, play the blues at harmonica club and condition their bodies at yoga sessions.

“You’ll find out that there is something to do on most days where visitors can make new friends, learn new skills and stimulate their little grey brain cells.

"Our charity’s aim is to ensure users are able to continue to live their lives to the full by helping them to remain active, learn new things, receive advice and support, make new friends and enjoy trips out with like minded individuals. Our activities calendar is a clear indication of our commitment to this.”

Other events include Talking Tables sessions who aim to conquer loneliness by bringing people together for chat, a Slimming World group, and monthly gardening and bereavement support groups.
