Former Stourbridge players Stuart Pierpoint and Leon Broadhurst have been appointed as the club's new joint managers, the Glassboys have announced.
Scott Adey-Linforth, who is already part of the youth coaching setup at the War Memorial Ground, has been promoted to become First Team Coach.
It follows the departure of Mark Yates and his backroom team last week after a run of poor results which had seen Stourbridge win just once in the league all season.
Lewis Solly, who won both his matches as interim manager - at Royston in the league on Saturday and last night (Tuesday) against Tividale in the Birmingham Senior Cup - will return to his role as goalkeeping coach.
Chairman Andy Pountney said: “I would like to thank Lewis, Lee (Vaughan) and Darryl (Knights) for seeing us through the last few days and galvanising the squad to two very welcome wins at Royston and Tividale.
“I am really pleased to announce the appointment of Stuart and Leon as our new joint-managers. Their ethics, drive and professionalism has always been second-to-none. They were popular figures during their time with us before as players with Stuart being our club captain.
“They know the Club and the supporters. I feel that in the last couple of years for one reason and another – and Covid hasn’t helped – we’ve lost some of our ‘DNA’ and identity. I want to see us playing entertaining, hard, but fair football and with the players enjoying being a part of it and playing with a smile on their faces.”
They become the fourth managerial team at the club in two-and-a-half years following the resignation of Gary Hackett, the short-lived reign of Ian Long and then the appointment of Yates - but the duo have none of their predecessors' experience in management.
Pierpoint, who is 39, has been at Coalville Town since leaving Stourbridge two years ago having made 165 appearances in four years as a centre-back at the War Memorial after joining from Brackley Town in 2015.
Broadhurst, meanwhile, is the club's longest serving player having made 780 appearances across 16 seasons with the club, scoring 154 goals in the process. The 37-year old returns to the club after two years at Bromsgrove Rovers.
Pountney said he hoped their years as players at Stourbridge’s level would make up for their lack of experience in the dugout.
“This is their first time as managers however Stuart and Leon boast considerable experience of this level”, he added.
“They know the players and their characters having shared dressing rooms with many of their colleagues over the years. They have a good knowledge of the opposition we’ll be coming up against.
“In leaving us in 2019 they have also since got to work with different managers and coaches and look at their methods. I believe that this will also stand them in good stead. I’m delighted to get this over the line today and excited to see what they can achieve.”
Their first match in charge will be in the Southern League Central at home to Lowestoft Town on Saturday, with the club hoping for their first home win of the season.
