Armed police officers have raided a Black Country house after surrounding the building for an hour and a half.
Officers burst into the house, and arrested a male, after arriving at the property in Short Street, Wednesbury, just before 8am this morning. More than 10 armed officers had been stationed on Short Street and at the front and back of the house, while marked police cars blocked off the road.
The residential street, which joins Darlaston Road and Bilston Road, was completely sealed off and neighbours were ordered to stay inside.
Police marksmen kept their weapons trained on the property from the street in front, while other officers waited with dogs and a battering ram before bursting inside at 9.25am. The officers were inside for around 10 minutes before returning to the street and standing down.
Shortly after the raid, medics who had been waiting in a nearby ambulance entered the building but it is unclear whether anybody was injured. The reason for the siege is not yet known .
