Armed Police Officers Seal Off Bewdley Street

Armed police closed a Bewdley street in what's described as an 'ongoing police incident'.

West Mercia Officers arrived in Load Street just after 5pm. There are eight police cars and four armed reponse vans at the scene, according to a local resident. A spokesman from West Mercia Police said:

"All we can say at the moment is we have concerns for the welfare of an individual."

Armed police left the scene shortly before 6pm. Scores of officers still remain at the scene.

Up until around 5.50pm, the High Street was closed between Load Street and Redhill.

The reasons for such a large Police presence are currently unclear.
