Attempted burglary foiled in Kingswinford

Police in Dudley are calling for witnesses who saw anything suspicious in Oakfield Avenue, Kingswinford, just after midnight in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A homeowner heard the sound of his garage being opened outside his home and went outside to check. He confronted a man who was standing in front of it with the door open.

The homeowner challenged the burglar, who tried to run away. He chased him and tried to grab hold of his sleeve and, in the ensuing scuffle, they both fell into a fence resulting in the homeowner injuring his elbow and the burglar cutting his leg.

Property from the man’s garage was subsequently found in a neighbour’s garden. Investigation manager Inspector Ade George said:

“We are asking if you know somebody who has an unexplained injury or damage to clothing that might have been caused by a sharp object to get in touch with us.

"Anyone with information is asked to call 101 giving reference log 6 of 7th January, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
