Bilston Town FC have announced they are set to become the first fan owned club in the West Midlands.
Joining the likes of AFC Wimbledon and FC United of Manchester, Bilston’s current Board believe that to be a true community asset, the local football club should be owned by the people who matter the most - its fans.
In order to comply with rules approved by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Football Supporters' Association, Bilston Town FC will become a Community Benefit Society and will launch the sale of memberships at their home game Vs Paget Rangers on December 7th 2024, event start time of 12:00.
Each member will be issued with a share in the company owning the football club. The model of ownership only one share per member giving the holder one vote on the running of the Club. Membership Ppackages range from £10 to £1000 and business can get involved too.
Shareholders will not only receive voting rights, but also a Share Certificate and other benefits depending on the package purchased, including a much sought after owners' pin badge.
Bilston FC club Chair, Denise Frankham, said: "We have always believed our Club belonged to our fans and community, said , our decision to convert to a legal form of community ownership is the best way to ensure that will remain the case.
"Becoming an owner of Bilston Town FC will help towards protecting and securing its future."
