Bonfire Organisers Appeal To Local Businesses

Businesses across Dudley borough can help to build one of the country’s biggest bonfires by donating pallets to Himley Hall and Park.

Thousands of people are expected to flock to the park grounds for Dudley Council’s bonfire and firework display on Saturday 5th November. Bosses today appealed for local firms to play their part in making this year’s fire bigger and better than ever before by donating pallets to burn.

Staff at the park spend weeks stacking the pallets to create the bonfire, which is the centrepiece to a spectacular firework show set to music. Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member for planning and economic development, said:

“Himley Hall and Park is host to one of the biggest firework shows in the country and the bonfire is a highlight of the event.  As always, we’re relying on the generosity of local businesses to donate wooden pallets to help us make the bonfire even bigger and better than before.”

The council is looking for local companies who can donate unbroken, wooden pallets to be delivered to them. Organisers can only accept wooden pallets and not garden rubbish, tree trunks or old furniture.

Companies wishing to dispose of their pallets and who are able to deliver to Himley Park should contact Himley Hall & Park on 01384 817817.
