Families brought Christmas cheer to Halesowen and Brierley Hill as both towns hosted their annual light switch-on events yesterday.
Hundreds of people gathered at the two popular town centres last night for a fun-packed celebration.
In Halesowen dance and music acts took to the stage as part of the event which also included a fun fair, pantomime performance, a choir, film screenings in the library and a Christmas market through the town.
Britain’s Got Talent star, Amy Lou switched on the lights with support from the Mayor of Dudley. The event was organised by Halesowen BID with support from Dudley Council.
Meanwhile, in Brierley Hill, the deputy Mayor of Dudley was guest of honour at the event which included music acts on the stage in Moor Street. There was also a fun fair, balloon modelling and street acts. Councillor Andrea Goddard, Mayor of Dudley, said:
“What a great way to start the festive season with two brilliant events in Halesowen and Brierley Hill.
“I was in Halesowen and it is always a brilliant day out – and what a real honour to help switch on the lights with Amy Lou.
“There is always lots of entertainment on at our Christmas celebrations and it was great to see so many people in our towns having fun.”
Black Country Radio supported both events with music and entertainment and live broadcasts throughout the day.
The events were sponsored by Copthorne Hotel, Brierley Hill and Jewson.
