Around 100 wraps of suspected heroin was seized and two people were arrested – including one aged just 16-years-old – after West Midlands Police stopped a car in Walsall last week.
Armed officers patrolling in an unmarked vehicle in the Chuckery area at 1pm spotted a car suspected to be linked to drug dealing. They attempted to stop the driver in Tong Street but their vehicle was shunted as the driver sped way before abandoning the car in nearby Beacon Street.
However, the 29-year-old, from Bentley, didn’t get far and was found hiding behind a van while a 16-year-old male from Walsall – understood to have been a passenger in the car – was also arrested. A significant quantity of cash was also recovered from the car.
The suspects remain in police custody on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply; the driver will also be questioned over failing to stop for police. West Midlands Police Force Incident Manager, Chief Inspector Sally Ford, said:
“This is a great result, two good arrests and a significant haul of suspected Class A drugs recovered. We’ll be carrying out further searches which could well lead us to identify more drugs and crime suspects.”
