Dudley Council is waiving road closure charges for communities hosting street parties to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
Victory in Europe Day marks the day the German forces surrendered to the Allied powers.
Thursday 8 May 2025 will be the 80th anniversary, and Dudley Council will be waiving the standard legal fees which apply to road closures as it works to community celebrations.
Applications for smaller streets and cul-de-sacs are advised, as main roads and bus routes cannot be accepted.
Councillor Damian Corfield, cabinet member responsible for highways, said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for people to host their own street party celebrations.
“With the passage of eight decades, the youngest men and women who contributed to victory will be at least 96 years old and we want to enable families and friends to be able to come together to mark this milestone.”
For more information and the application form visit mayorofdudley.org.uk/events.
Applications must be submitted by 28 February 2025.
