Six fire engines and an aerial platform were called to Halesowen Road in Netherton this evening after reports of a factory fire.
The blaze took hold in the former Batchit LImited premises, which have sat derelict for some time. The speedy reaction of crews helped contain the incident and meant that only a road closure was necessary to allow crews to work. Incident Commander, Neil Griffiths, said:
"The first engines were on scene within five minutes which had a really good impact on the teams being able to control the fire.
"We expect to be here for a significant amount of time, putting out the fire and establishing the cause. We hope to get the road back to normality a soon as possible."
It's unclear what the cause is at the present time.
