A number of planters in Halesowen Town Centre have had floral displays destroyed with just a week to go before RHS judges visit the high street.
Committee and volunteers from Halesowen In Bloom were left reeling after finding flowers ripped from their beds early this morning.
Hours of painstaking work by volunteers and local businesses each year aims to secure a prize in the Britain In Bloom contest. The town were crowned the overall winner at the Heart of England in Bloom awards in 2022, an accolade which will see them compete in this years national challenge.
Vicky Rogers from Halesowen BID broke the news on social media this morning. She said:
“We were absolutely devastated to be told about this, this morning.
“It’s not what the town needs especially with just a week until judging.
“We’ll do what we can to fix it, but if anyone can help, do please get in touch.”
After checking local CCTV, a male was witnessed at around 2:15am. West Midlands Police were called and the male arrested.
