Dudley Council is giving people a New Year boost with free evening and overnight parking, which is now in place.
Evening parking fees have been scrapped on all Dudley Council-run Pay and Display car parks and people visiting town centres, whether for a function, event or to eat out, will now be able to park free of charge from 7pm to 7am.
This initiative runs alongside the ‘two hours free’ parking arrangements on the Council’s Pay and Display car parks, which allow people to park free for stays of up to two hours between 7am and 7pm. Councillor John Martin, Cabinet Member for Environmental Services and Highways, said:
"We are reminding people that they can now take advantage of free evening and overnight parking in all our public carparks in addition to the two hours free parking on Council owned Pay and Display carparks during the day.
"The administration have implemented this change to boost the borough’s hospitality and entertainment economy and we know many residents will also be pleased by the decision.”
The free parking can also be used overnight by residents living nearby to reduce the amount of on street car parking in busy areas. For information on parking tariffs in Dudley Council car parks people can visit dudley.gov.uk.
