Free summer festival for young people at Sandwell Valley

A giant, free event for children and young people is Sandwell is taking place on Saturday 13 July at Sandwell Valley Country Park.

The event, organised by Sandwell Council's SHAPE Team, will be open from 11am to 5pm on the showground in front of Sandwell Park Farm.
 
The event, called Summer Fest 2019, includes a large careers marquee where more than 25 employers and training providers will be available to give advice to young people about their future.
 
Exhibitors include Connexions Sandwell, Sandwell College, West Midlands Police, The British Army, West Midlands Combined Authority, West Midlands Fire Service, Lean Engineering and Manufacturing Academy (LEMA) and many more.
 
Summer Fest 2019 is aiming to attract children and young people of all ages with a massive variety of free activities. Activities on the day include football skills sessions from ex-Premier League footballer Simon Johnson, archery, Nerf gun games and Zorb football.

There will also be a large music stage where local acts will perform throughout the day. Dance groups and singers are invited register their interest online, before the event to perform on the big stage with a chance to win the dance-off competition or the music talent show.
 
Younger children will have the chance to meet farm animals and get their face painted as well as arts and craft activities. All these activities are free to take part in. Councillor Maria Crompton, cabinet member for safer communities, said:

“This is our biggest event for young people this year and entry is free for everyone. There is something for everyone, so please families and young people come along and enjoy the fun.”
