Time is running out for people to take advantage of a free Will making scheme which a Black Country based charity is hoping may offer some peace of mind during uncertain times.

Throughout October, Acorns Children’s Hospice has partnered with local law firms from across the Black Country and the West Midlands to provide a free Will writing service as part of the charity’s annual Make a Will Month.

With Covid-19 dominating everyone’s lives, Lindsay Mottram, Legacy and In Memory Manager at Acorns, says it is ‘more important than ever to make your wishes known. Lindsay said:

“Making a Will is one of those things many people put off, but it is one of the most important ways to protect your family and your love ones.

“No one knows what the future will bring but having a Will gives you the peace of mind knowing that your wishes are known and respected.

“We understand that starting the Will writing  process might feel daunting, especially with new rules and guidance around the pandemic but the law firms we are working with will have lots of options for you to complete your Will in a safe and convenient way.”

Acorns Make a Will Month is not only the perfect opportunity to have a Will professionally written, but by joining the scheme participants can also help local children and families by making a voluntary donation towards the charity’s vital children’s hospice care. Lindsay added:

“We rely on generous donations by the local community to continue providing our lifeline care and support. Once you’ve ensured your wishes and desires are taken care of, we hope you’ll consider making a donation or including a gift in your Will to support Acorns to help us be there for local children and families for years to come.”

Acorns has been at the forefront in the battle against coronavirus, supporting some of the most vulnerable families as well as the wider emergency response of the NHS and social care system.

It costs the charity, which cares for families from across the West Midlands, almost £10 million every year to continue – the bulk of which comes from donations and fundraising.
