The grounds of the historic Himley Hall will be filled with stylish marquees and trendy glamping set-ups next weekend as part of a wedding fair open day.
Pre-booked visitors will be able to look around the temporarily re-styled grounds to see what an outdoor wedding celebration would look like, as the hall is set to host outdoor wedding celebrations from 2020.
The 18 century, grade II* stately home, has been a popular wedding venue, for over a decade and has seen hundreds of happy couples pass through its striking doors. However, from the summer of 2020, couples will be able to bring this old school glamour to an outdoor setting with garden weddings, complete with marquees and glamping for guests.
The wedding open day on Saturday 4 May will show off not only the recently restyled West Wing but will also allow couples to get a sense of what an outdoor celebration in the hall’s picturesque grounds would feel like.
Visitors will be able to see a fully dressed wedding marquee, complete with bridal dressing area. The grounds will be turned into a glamping village with prosecco bar, fire pit, seating area, games area and fully dressed cloth tent, set up for 100 but capable of hosting wedding parties of up to 2000 guests.
There will be a tipi village, where guests can stay overnight in cosy tipis and wake to the stunning view of the boating lake. The hall will be offering these outdoor wedding celebrations from the summer of 2020 but is already taking bookings from couples after a more natural, relaxed and open air setting or those with large wedding parties.
The hall’s beautiful Capability Brown landscaped gardens will act as a backdrop for couples tying the knot at the historic venue. Brown, who is famed for his focus on comfort and elegance, devised the garden design in 1774. His combined practical approach emphasised the need for a garden to provide for its household, while also appearing effortlessly elegant. He introduced the great lake, a new carriage approach to the Hall from the Dudley Road, and the planting of scattered clumps of trees throughout the estate.
Inside the hall itself there will be new interiors which includes new paintwork, interior and exterior signage, the transformation of the hall foyer into an informal reception area for guests, use of the stairwell and its chandelier backdrop for photos, contemporary but classic styling by a graduate interior designer and the renaming of the rooms to better reflect the hall’s history.
The ticketed event which runs from 11am – 4pm is an opportunity to look around the venue, talk to the wedding team, tour the historic hall and sample the hall’s gourmet food. Couples attending on the day can enter a free prize draw to win a free wedding ceremony.
The day will also feature an exhibition of wedding photos submitted by couples who have been married in the hall over the last ten years. These lucky couples have been invited to attend a private VIP opening the evening before on Friday 3 May.
This year the hall has a range of packages to choose from, priced from £5,999, all of which allow personalisation to make the day extra special.
