People visiting the borough as part of the International Festival of Glass can take a trip through time with the Stourbridge Canal and Glass Quarter Heritage Trail.

The Glass Quarter will be hosting a range of exhibitions, workshops and events over the four day festival, which runs from 23 to 26 August.  This year’s theme is ‘Placemaking’, a design approach that puts people at the centre and develops a sense of belonging.

The heritage trail is a self-guided walk around the Stourbridge canals, looking at canal and glass heritage in Stourbridge.

It features the iconic Red House Glass cone, built at the end of the 18th Century for the manufacture of glass, which is now a popular heritage attraction run by Dudley Council. 

People can download the free trail map at glassquarter.dudley.gov.uk.

Councillor Ian Kettle, cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise said:
