Champagne corks are popping in Halesowen this afternoon after it was confirmed the town’s Business Improvement District had been successfully renewed for another five-year term.
Under the BID scheme, companies who pay business rates within a defined area in the town are charged a levy in addition to their bills. Every five years, that agreement has to be re-evaluated with ballot papers being given to members.
The team, led by Town Centre Manager, Vicky Rogers has been speaking to businesses to green light the move which aims to give local businesses more independence to drive improvements in the local economy.
The BID also works to provide training for members and to raise the profile of the town, working to bring more funding into the area.
"We're overwhelmed with the outcome of the ballot. It's fantastic to see that we've got the support of all of local businesses and we can continue with the great work we've been doing over the last five years - we just can't wait to get started!"
The team's first event since the news was announced will be the borough's Black Country Day celebrations on July 14th which begin at 10am in Somers Square.
