Heritage Open Day at Cradley church

Watch a blacksmith make chain, have a go at spinning wool and climb the tower at Cradley Heritage Open Day.

Taking place on Saturday 7th September at St Peters church in Cradley, there’s lots going on with displays of old photos and documents, vestments and the chance to enjoy refreshments.

From 10.00am until 2.00pm the church will be open for visitors, allowing them to see a space which was originally built in 1789 as a Non-Conformist Chapel, before the minister converted to the Church of England in 1798.

Local history volunteers will be helping visitors trace their Cradley ancestors and will be on hand to help people find family graves in the churchyard. A selection of local history books will be available to purchase.

From 2.30pm there will be a free concert with Bridgnorth musicians, Jessica and James Bradley. James will play well-known tunes on the organ and piano and Jessica will be playing duets with James on the recorder.

Free parking is available courtesy of Cradley Baptist Church in Blue Ball Lane and also at local car parks and on street parking. The churchyard will be closed to vehicles for safety due to craft demonstrations in the churchyard.

Future concerts will be listed at achurchnearyou.com.
