Volunteers at the Mary Stevens Hospice have received a prestigious award for their contribution to the charity.

Mary Stevens Hospice relies on the support of more than 500 volunteers across its charity shops, community events and 24-hour care facility, and they have now been recognised as part of the Mayor's 2018 Pride of Dudley awards.

The nominees were chosen by Mayor of Dudley, Dave Tyler, with the winner chosen through an online public vote. Fellow nominees were The Retreat Café and Jon Mansell. Stevan Jackson, Chief Executive Officer, Mary Stevens Hospice Group said:

“Many thanks to his worship for putting our volunteers forward as one of the three contenders. This is a great reflection on the fantastic work of our many volunteers, without whom we simply couldn't provide care for our community.

"Thank you to all who voted and to all of our volunteers who so richly deserve this prestigious recognition.”

Cllr Dave Tyler, Mayor of Dudley, added:

“Congratulations to everyone at Mary Stevens Hospice for this award and for all their kindness and compassion over the years.

"My job to find nominees was difficult with so many amazing organisations and individuals to choose from but I had no hesitation in putting their name forward and the public did the rest. A well-deserved recognition.”
