The public can discover the stunning surroundings of Lightwoods House in Bearwood this Saturday at an open day.

You're invited to take a tour of the beautifully restored house, learn about its heritage, enjoy a guided tour of the grounds and enjoy music from the Dynamix Choir on the bandstand.

There's also an outdoor exhibition in the Shakespeare Garden called Black Country Lungs - a series of photographs and moving images telling the story of people living with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). The day runs from 11am until 3pm and admission is free. Sandwell Council's cabinet member for leisure Councillor Bill Gavan said:

"The house is the jewel in Lightwoods Park's crown - it's fantastic to have this beautiful building restored and open to the public. I'd recommend anyone who hasn't visited the house since it opened last year to come and take a look. 

"It's a fantastic community space, a beautiful wedding venue and a great place to stop for a meal or snack at the tearooms."
