A number of local residents are celebrating after receiving honours over the weekend.
Some recipients were honoured in the Kings New Years Honours whilst others received their titles in the controversial resignation honours list of former Prime Minister, Liz Truss.
Locally, former Windsor High School head, Keith Sorrell received an MBE for services to education. In a post on social media, the Windsor Academy Trust - where Keith also served as CEO - said:
“Wonderful news today that [the Trusts] former CEO has been awarded an MBE.
”Keith spent his career putting children first and striving to improve their life chances and we are exceptionally proud.”
Stourbridge MP, Suzanne Webb has been awarded an OBE for ‘political and public service as Parliamentary Private Secretary at the Department for International Trade, 10 Downing Street, and Member of Parliament for Stourbridge’. Ms Webb said:
“It is honour enough to be the MP for Stourbridge and I am sure I feel like many who receive such awards, when I say I am only doing my job.
“Thank you to everyone - family, colleagues and constituents - for the help they have given me over the years. I will be thinking of them when I receive this award in the New Year.”
Also, 17-year-old Louis Johnson, who has raised up to £75,000 for charity has said it felt unbelievable to be awarded a British Empire Medal in the list.
Louis began fundraising for good causes across Wolverhampton when he was 11. He has supported 18 charities and personally raised £20,000 for Birmingham Children's Hospital.
