Man dies after car hits tree in Halesowen

A man has died after the car he was travelling in hit a tree in Halesowen last night.

Police and ambulance services were called to Manor Way just before 8pm.

An ambulance, a paramedic officer, MERIT trauma doctor, critical care paramedic and the Trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team attended the scene.

The driver of the black Renault Clio, a man aged 20, was pronounced dead at the scene, and officers are supporting his family at this tragic time.

A police spokesperson said: “We remain at the scene this morning while the investigation continues and are urging motorists to find alternative routes.”

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman added: “On arrival, crews found one car had come off the road and collided with a tree.

“Sadly, it quickly became clear that the driver, a man, had sustained critical injuries and nothing could be done to save him.

“He was declared deceased at the scene.”

Manor Way remains closed eastbound from the roundabout at Grange Road/Grange Hill to the roundabout at Hagley Road.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage has been urged to get in touch via 101 or Live Chat on the West Midlands Police website, quoting log 4843 of 2 December.
