Stourbridge MP Margot James is backing a Government campaign to increase low paid workers’ knowledge of their national minimum wage rights
Business Minister MS James sez she is “determined” to make sure everybody in work receives a fair wage.
The campaign was launched after a Government poll showed many people in low paid work are confused about when they should be paid and what deductions from their pay packets can legally be made.
Some of the most common excuses given by employers for underpaying workers include using tips to top up pay to the minimum wage, and making staff pay for their uniforms. The national minimum and living wage rates are due to rise on April 1.
