The Mayor of Dudley will join Black Country festival goers for an evening of music during the festival’s opening weekend.
Councillor Mohammed Hanif will be tapping his feet to music from the musicals in a special evening titled ‘Music of the Night’, presented by Gig Caritas at Brierley Hill Civic Hall on Saturday July 2 from 7.30pm.
There will be performances from stars of West End classics including Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, We Will Rock You and Wicked.
Plus there will be performances by Sound Company Community Choir, Birmingham Institute of Theatre Arts and the 30 piece Gig Caritas Orchestra with the evening being broadcast live on Black Country Radio. Tickets cost £10 and are available at www.gigcaritas.com.
Councillor Mohammed Hanif, The Mayor of Dudley, said:

“The festival gives us all an opportunity to take pride in the area we live in and to celebrate the performances of some of our best home grown talent.”
This year’s festival runs from July 1 to 31 and other activities during the opening weekend include Halesowen Carnival on July 2, Stourbridge Carnival on July 3 and the Great Black Country Road Run in Halesowen on July 3.
Events will be taking place across all the major towns including Black Country Day on July 14. There will also be activities in Dudley Town Centre on July 16 and a beer festival at Brierley Hill Civic Hall on July 29-31.
The festival is now in its third year and sparks a wave of pride across the Black Country. It honours the history of the Black Country while celebrating the future
