intu have launched a free shopping app for use when visiting the centre.
Shoppers will now be able to save both time and money as a new app providing in-centre navigation with maps and directions, store directories and offers at the tap of a screen, has launched at intu Merry Hill. Intu, the owner of many of the UK’s largest shopping centres, is bringing the digital and physical shopping experience even closer together.
The app allows customers to navigate around over 200 stores quickly and easily, highlighting offers from retailers as you walk past. This app looks and feels very similar to the maps that many of us already use outside on smartphones, and is one of the first of its kind for use inside a shopping centre in the UK.
intu Merry Hill’s marketing manager, Rob Pickersgill, said:
“Merry Hill is the fifth largest shopping centre in the UK with over 200 stores, including retail, café’s, restaurants and banking and we have free car parking for over 10,000 cars.
"We want our visitors to get the best experience and our new app is easy, interactive and fun. It will be constantly updated with offers from our stores and in addition to the store locator handy info like toilets, exits and escalators are clearly marked.
“We’re also running a competition to name the app – the winner will receive a £500 gift card to spend at any of our stores.”
The app, which was initially trialled and tested across a number of Student Night events in September 2015, is another development from intu’s in-house digital innovation team who have already overseen the development of a successful nationwide virtual shopping centre, intu.co.uk.
Trevor Pereira, digital and commercial director for intu said:
“We all now live in a digital world and we expect to be able to interact and engage with our favourite brands at our convenience, in-store, online or on the go, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
"This app will allow our customers to do just that, with bespoke information only one click away, wherever you are.”
The intu Shopping Centres app can be downloaded from your app store.
