Dudley borough residents can now opt into the convenience of e-billing for their annual council tax bill.
Previously the authority sent paper copies of council tax bills to all residents, but this year is encouraging residents to sign up for e-billing.
Residents can sign up for e-billing using their MyDudley account and their council tax reference from their last statement. If people don’t have that to hand, they can answer a couple of quick verification questions.
More than 100,000 people have already signed up for a MyDudley account and can quickly add e-billing to their account with a few simple clicks.
Moving to e-billing is not only convenient for residents but also reduces paper waste as part of the councils ‘Go Paperless’ strategy to lower the authority’s carbon footprint.
It has the additional benefit of reducing paper, printing and postage costs, making savings that can be reinvested into the services that matter most.
Councillor Phil Atkins, cabinet member for corporate strategy, said: “We only launched the e-billing function on MyDudley in late November and so far more than 7500 people have made the switch.
“People are used to viewing their utility bills and bank statements online, so offering council tax statements as an e-bill was the natural step for us as part of the roll-out of additional MyDudley services.
“Once it’s set up, it’s one less thing to have to think about and is one less important piece of paper to have to file away and also reduces paper waste and clutter at home.”
People who sign up for e-billing will start to receive their council tax bill digitally. Click here to sign up for council tax e-billing.
