Dudley South MP Mike Wood is bringing his ‘Older Peoples Information Fair’ back for another year to help local older people connect with important services and advice.
Once again being held at Wordsley Community Centre, the event will take place on Friday 7th June between 10am and 1pm.
The MP has arranged for a variety of organisations to be in attendance offering information about the services and products they offer.
Organisations who will be there on the day include Waldrons Solicitors; South Staffs Water; Barclays Bank; Living Well, Feeling Safe (health & well-being services); Dudley Telecare; Home Instead; Dudley Carers Hub; Wiltshire Farm Foods; Lloyds Bank; West Midlands Fire Service and more.
There will also be local social groups looking to give information about welcoming new members. Mike Wood MP said:
“We all know that many in the older generations can find it hard to access information and communicate with organisations as more and more communication moves online.
“That’s why I’ve organised this annual event since I was first elected in 2015 – so as local people have that chance to get the information they need about services which older people are often interested in.
“I’m really pleased that we’ve got a good range of social groups exhibiting on the day again too. Loneliness is something that affects a lot of people as they grow older, but it doesn’t need to when we have so many local groups running activities and bringing people together each week.”
Thanks to sponsorship by Waldrons Solicitors, the event is free to attend and complimentary refreshments will be on offer. Lloyds Bank will run two Scam Awareness sessions – starting at 10:30am and 11:45am which will give advice on what to look out for and how to protect against fraud.
Local Police will also be there on the day to answer questions or for residents to raise concerns and hear about ways to protect themselves and their homes from crime.
Free parking will be available at Wordsley Community Centre, Wordsley Green and at the former Mere Education centre on Lawnswood Road.
