Key figures in Dudley borough’s Black Country Festival have been captured in a special piece of artwork.

From comic Lenny Henry to wheelchair tennis ace Jordanne Whiley, the famous faces have been included in the piece by artist Ben Poultney.

The unique picture also includes the leader of Dudley Council, the Mayor of Dudley, comics the Black Country Grannies, the Empty Can group which penned and sang the Black Country anthem and many more.

There are also geographical references too such as the Red House Glass Cone, council house in Dudley and the borough’s famous canal network.

It is the 10th anniversary of the Black Country flag's creation with the festival steadily growing over the years to include events right across the borough and wider region. July 14 marks the official Black Country Day. Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of Dudley Council, said:

"The Black Country Festival has become a staple of the region’s calendar and as the historic capital of the Black Country, Dudley always celebrates in style.

"The artwork that Ben has created really captures the fun and the pride we have in the Black Country – something shared by key figures such as Lenny Henry and Jordanne Whiley.

"There’s a lot to celebrate about living and working here and people should take the time to see how many people and places they can spot in the picture."
