A new current account is being launched by Castle & Crystal Credit Union to help people manage their money.

The Engage account comes with a contactless Visa debit card which can be used to earn online discounts, including cash back rewards of up to 15 per cent on shopping at a range of high street retailers.

They include Asda, Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, House of Fraser, H Samuel and Toys R Us.

Anyone who lives or works in the borough of Dudley can sign up and order their card for free from Castle & Crystal.

Those signing up will also benefit from access to the free ‘Envelopes’ money management tool. It allows people to set up direct debits and place money aside for bills and rent payments to avoid accidental overspending. Councillor Peter Miller, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said:

“This is a fantastic new account for local people, who can gain rewards as they shop and manage their personal budgeting at the same time. It should help residents’ money go that little bit further.

“I would encourage local people to take full advantage of the new current account. It can even be accessed directly from your mobile phone via an app on Apple and Android devices.”
