A new website has been launched to showcase the projects taking place to regenerate Sandwell’s six towns in the coming years.
There are a number of regeneration programmes under way and, between 2022 and 2027, up to £1.8bn of investment will fund regeneration across the six towns, making Sandwell a more sustainable, greener place.
The £1.8bn pipeline includes 66 regeneration projects being delivered across Sandwell. Funded by a range of public and private sector investment, the regeneration plans aim to improve the quality of life for our residents, creating more well-paid, fulfilling jobs and a healthier, wealthier Sandwell.
All of these projects have been brought together under the banner of ‘Regenerating Sandwell’ with a new website www.regeneratingsandwell.co.uk which will be the ‘go to’ resource for Sandwell residents and businesses looking for information about the projects.
The 66 projects will contribute towards:
- More than 4,300 new homes
- More than £57million invested in 10 education and skills facilities
- Helping 4,000+ new learners and apprentices
- £63million investment in new employment and commercial floorspace, which will also create jobs across Sandwell.
As the projects progress, the website will be updated with information such as progress pictures, architect drawings, announcements and project timelines including construction work, and more. Councillor Kerrie Carmichael, Leader of Sandwell Council, said:
“Sandwell Council has been working on a new vision to regenerate Sandwell’s six towns. We’re moving forward with plans to make Sandwell an even better place to live, work and visit.
"We are working towards that aim with a number of significant regeneration projects which will represent tens of millions of pounds worth of investment. I’d encourage people to have a look at the new website and learn more about the exciting plans to transform Sandwell.”
