A new bus fitted with creative media equipment will tour communities in Walsall next week.
The youth bus has been fitted with a mini music recording studio and podcasting equipment for young people to have a go and get involved in creative media activities.
Young people can visit the bus at various locations across the borough, where there will also be an opportunity to speak with youth workers from the council and partner organisations.
Location dates and times:
- 4 November - East Locality Family Hub, WS8 6HA
- 5 November - West Locality Family Hub, WS10 8AE
- 6 November - North Locality Family Hub, WS3 1HJ
- 7 November 2024 - South & Central Locality Family Hub, WS2 8NG
- 9 November 2024 - North Locality Family Hub, WS3 1HJ
The bus is hitting the road as part of Youth Work Week, an annual celebration week organised by National Youth Agency which celebrates all things youth work.
The week runs from 4-10 November, and the theme this year is ‘delivering positive futures for young people’, aiming to shine a light on the youth spaces across the country that are accessible to all, and celebrate young people’s diversity and individuality.
The new bus is part of regular discussions the council is having with children and young people, about the opportunities and challenges they face, and how together, we can create a cleaner, greener, safer and stronger borough from now, until the year 2040.
Councillor Stacie Elson, Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services at Walsall Council, said, “I can’t wait to see this bus hit the road next week – interacting with our young people is an absolute priority of the council.
“It’s been refitted with some amazing equipment for young people to enjoy, so come along, bring your friends, and see what it’s all about.
“We want our young people to know they have a voice, and we’re listening. We want to be present in our communities speaking with the future adults of Walsall.”
