Paul Smith has stood down as Manager of Halesowen Town FC with immediate effect.
He will remain with the club on a strategic and advisory capacity with the aim of helping build the infrastructure and supporting the growth plans for the future. Director of Football, Keith McKenna said:
''Paul has done a fantastic job at our club and has been instrumental in bringing the good days back. A very successful tenure and he should be very proud of his achievements.
“Promotion and an unbelievable FA Trophy run were 2 of the most special highlights but not just a manager but a good man who fully understood and embraced the culture of the club.
“On and off the field he worked tirelessly for the benefit of everyone and I very much appreciate his contribution, effort and professionalism.''
The club can also confirm that Russ Penn has been offered the role of Manager on a long term deal and has accepted the position.
He will meet the players tonight and take charge of his first game on Saturday away against Barwell. The current back room staff of Gary, Martin, Josh and Adam will remain and support him in the role. Keith added:
''Russ has a great pedigree within the game both as a pro, non-league and in management and has a strong affinity with the club, he has worked at very high level in non-league and I am absolutely delighted we could attract him.
“He is energetic and focussed on what we want to achieve at this football club and I’m sure he will be a great success.
“I’m sure all the fans get right behind him and I personally look forward to working with him. Welcome aboard.''
A statement from Russ Penn will follow soon.
