A pharmacist opposite the repossessed Coombswood Surgery has demanded immediate action from Stourview Medical Group.
Mohammed Waqas who runs the neighbouring Evergreen Pharmacy is furious the surgery has closed. He said:
“Patients have been coming into our pharmacy and are worried about the closure, we want everyone to know we will continue to provide them with repeat prescriptions.
“They need to sort this out as quickly as possible.”
Shocked patients and staff were stunned to find the medical practice had been repossessed by bailiffs due to “persistent non-payment of rent”.
On Tuesday bailiffs entered The Coombswood Surgery, Coombs Road, to close the practice down in one of the first cases of a GP’s surgery repossession in Britain.
The surgery is part of the Stourside Medical Group which includes Halesowen Health Centre on Birmingham Street and Tenlands Road surgery - both of which have been open as normal this week.
