Detectives investigating the suspected double murder of a married couple in Oldbury are appealing for the public’s help to trace their missing car.
The distinctive yellow Toyota Aygo, registration SD17 KKY, has disappeared from the address on Moat Road where the victims were found today.
The bodies of the man and woman, aged 54 and 52 respectively, were discovered at around 4am yesterday after officers were called to check on them following concerns for their welfare. They had suffered serious injuries, and a post-mortem will be held in due course to formally identify them and establish the cause of death.
At around 5.30am, police arrested a 25-year-old man at an address in Smethwick on suspicion of the two murders. He is known to the couple, and the tragedy is being treated as a domestic incident with no threat to the wider community. Detective Inspector Hannah Whitehouse, leading the investigation, said:
“We understand the shock that this has caused in the local community and beyond, and we are working hard to identify and support the relatives of the two people who have lost their lives.
“Our investigation has already made good progress, but I really need the public’s help in tracing the couple’s car. If anyone has seen it being driven, or been offered it for sale, or has seen it abandoned somewhere, we need to know as soon as possible.”
