A man from Quinton has been jailed after a burglary in Smethwick earlier this year.
Wayne Greene broke into a property on 25 May and stole three laptops and a silver BMW. Police tracked the car to Whitley Court Road, Birmingham where it was left abandoned.
Thanks to extensive CCTV footage from the victim's property and nearby properties officers identified Greene at the scene of the burglary.
Due to the overwhelming evidence, Greene aged 40, changed his plea to guilty and appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Wednesday where he was jailed for two years and eight months. PC William Moore from the Neighbourhood Crime Team in Sandwell said:
"We know the impact burglaries have on the community and no one should feel unsafe in their own home. Greene was identified by some really good CCTV footage in the area and we were able to quickly locate, arrest and charge him with theft of a motor vehicle and burglary.
"I hope this sentencing offers residents some reassurance that we are committed to doing all we can to make sure those responsible for burglaries are held to justice."
