Sheridan Smith To Tread The Boards At Birmingham Hippodrome

The Olivier Award winning actress will reprise the role of Fanny Brice - the character she played to high acclaim in the West End - when the UK tour of Funny Girl visits the West Midlands.

The show brought global fame to Barbra Streisand 50 years ago and boasts some of the most iconic songs in film and theatre history including 'Don’t Rain On My Parade'.

Playing to sell out crowds at London's Savoy Theatre, the show tells the story of Fanny Brice, whose vocal talents and comedic ability see her rise from Brooklyn music hall singer to Broadway star. Smith's West End stint in the lead role - due to end at the start of October - has received critical acclaim with many suggesting her performance is one of the most 'astonishing that London has ever seen'.

The actress is well known both for television performances in sitcom 'Gavin and Stacey' and for leading theatrical roles in Legally Blonde and Little Shop Of Horrors. Sheridan will perform at select dates around the UK, with her run at Birmingham Hippodrome starting on Tuesday 9th May.
