Stourbridge MP backs local campaigners

Stourbridge MP Suzanne Webb has held an urgent online meeting with campaigners opposed to the development of Corbett Meadow to express her support.

The site behind the Corbett Outpatient Centre in Amblecote had been deemed surplus to NHS requirements and allocated as a potential development site. Suzanne met with the Save the Corbett Meadow Action Group to discuss the next steps to save the land from housing. She said:

“Corbett Meadow is an untouched piece of land which acts as an oasis for wildlife behind the centre but it is once again under threat of development.

“Having campaigned for over seven years to protect green belt land prior to becoming an MP, I do understand the importance of a consultation, should it get to that stage.

“It is important everyone has their say and makes their representations as to why this development should not go ahead. I have every faith the action group will pool their resources should an application proceed in the new year."

Dudley Councillors will soon consider a draft plan of sites within the borough that could be developed. If the pre application phase is successful for Corbett Meadow a planning application is expected to be made in spring 2021.
