Margot James MP welcomed Home Secretary Sajid Javid to Stourbridge on Friday 8th of March to discuss violent crime and increasing police numbers in the area.

Alongside Margot and Wollaston and Stourbridge Town Cllr Steve Clark, Mr Javid met with Chief Superintendent Sally Bourner in the new ‘cop shop’ – designed to give members of the public a base to meet with police.
 
The tragic death of Ryan Passey was also raised during the meeting and the Home Secretary extended his thoughts to Ryan’s family and friends as they continue their campaign for justice. Ms James said:
 
“I understand why people here are worried about knife crime and police numbers and I share their concerns. That’s why I was glad to welcome the Home Secretary, Sajid Javid, to Stourbridge on Friday.

"We discussed how we can work collaboratively to reduce violent crime in the area, following on from our work together on the UK’s Serious Violence Taskforce.
 
“More money has been announced for 2019/20 – almost £1bn – and I am very pleased to hear that West Midlands Police will recruit 200 officers during the next two years.”
 
The Home Secretary, Rt Hon. Sajid Javid MP, added:
 
“It has been great to visit Stourbridge and also to visit the ‘cop shop’ which I think is an excellent idea for local people, but also to see the excellent work that’s being done by Margot especially here.
 
“I think it’s really important that we take back control of Dudley Council in the forthcoming elections, so we can get even more focus on what local people really want.”
