Jordanne Whiley has been netted to switch on the Christmas lights in her home town of Halesowen.
The Paralympian and three times Wimbledon champion was said to be “over-the-moon” at the chance to perform the duty on Saturday November 19th.
Chamber of trade chairman Wayne Edwards said the 24-year-old wheelchair tennis star would be a “great draw” at the switch-on, which he promised would be “bigger and better” than ever.
“We asked Jordanne last year but she was away on a tennis tour and she is absolutely ecstatic that she can make it this year. She’s over-the-moon and so are we,” said Mr Edwards.
He said a “proper” Christmas market was planned for the day as well as a funfair, a packed afternoon of entertainment and the Rotary club’s Santa sleigh.
