Therapy hub introduced to help patients lead more independent lives

Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust are inviting the public to an open day at a new therapy hub which has been developed to empower patients to lead independent lives and help towards more meaningful recovery.

The Birch Unit Therapy Hub, located at Bushey Fields Hospital in Dudley, will give patients the chance to take time away from the ward environment to focus on building self-esteem by taking part in therapeutic activities such as gardening, socialising and painting.

The new hub will open its doors on 1st November between 12:00 and 3:00pm and attendees will have the opportunity to drop in, receive a cup of tea and a slice of cake and chat to stall holders who can provide more information on a wide variety of mental health services. Senior Occupational Therapist, Catherine Needham, said:

“We are so excited to open the Birch Unit Therapy Hub and showcase the different therapies we can offer to our patients to help them achieve the best support and recovery possible.”

There will also be new therapy hubs opening at the Trust’s other hospital sites; Dorothy Pattison Hospital and Bloxwich Hospital in the future. The event is open to patients, families and professionals. For more information, please contact catherine.needham@nhs.net.
