Police across the region have been working tirelessly in recent months to tackle burglary.

In the last week, a total of 16 people have been arrested, 13 of whom have been charged with burglary and other offences. Chief Inspector Richard Harris from Birmingham police, said:

“Whilst this is a great step forward, it is by no means a resting point and we will continue to do all we can to catch suspected burglars.

“We can’t do this without the support from members of the public and the intelligence we receive and would encourage people to remain vigilant, keep their properties secure and report any suspicious activity immediately.

“If you see something that looks out of place, a vehicle paying more attention to homes, especially those of the elderly or vulnerable, phone us immediately. If you believe a crime is in progress, phone 999.”

Those arrested are as follows:

• Lewis Tilley, aged 21, of no fixed address, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court on the 22 December charged with attempted burglary and has been remanded in custody.
• Christopher Arnold, aged 43, of Kilburn Road, Kingstanding, appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court on 24 December charged with burglary and theft and has been remanded in custody.
• A 17-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with attempted burglary. He appeared at Birmingham Crown Court and was bailed.
• Grant Willis, of Warren Farm Road, Kingstanding, and Allan Clive, of Oval Road, Tipton, both aged 21 as well as two 17-year-olds have all been charged on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary. They all appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on 20 December and were remanded in custody.
• Chris Madden, age 21, of Lakefield Close, Hall Green, has been charged with burglary and two counts of fraud by false representation. He appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court on 20 December and has been remanded in custody.
• Roshan Singh, aged 29, of South Acre Avenue, Birmingham, has been charged with three counts of possession of weapons, including firearms and burglary. He appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court on 20 December.
• John Shorthouse, age 22, of Greenford Road, Yardley Wood, has been charged with conspiracy to commit burglary, three counts of driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance. He appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court on 20 December.
• Kadim Shah, aged 20, of Lewis Road, Stirchley, has been charged with a number of burglary-related offences. He appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court on 20 December.
• Josh Pinder, aged 20, of Westcroft Grove, Kings Norton and a 17-year-old have both been charged with burglary and theft. They appeared before Walsall Magistrates Court yesterday (26 December).
• Two men, aged 39 and 29, from Birmingham were recalled to prison.
• An 18-year-old who was arrested on suspicion of burglary has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
