It's been confirmed that three additional people in Dudley borough have tested positive for COVID-19, meaning a total of four confirmed cases in the area.

Dr Sue Ibbotson, Centre Director, Public Health England East Midlands, said:

"Public Health England is contacting people who had close contact with the latest confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Dudley borough.
Close contacts will be given health advice about symptoms and emergency contact details to use if they become unwell in the 14 days after contact with the confirmed case.

"This tried and tested method will ensure we are able to minimise any risk to them and the wider public."

Deborah Harkins, Director of Public Health for Dudley, added:

"I would like to reassure people that we are working with NHS colleagues to do everything we can to delay the spread of this virus. We understand some people are feeling anxious but everyone can play their part by following good hygiene practices to help reduce the risks.

"People should take simple steps, washing hands regularly and thoroughly and covering their mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing. If you have a new continuous cough or a high temperature you should stay at home and try and stay more than three steps away from others at home.

"If you are no better after 7 days visit NHS 111 online or phone the NHS 111 helpline for further advice straight away. It is really important that you don’t go to your doctor or a hospital to be tested, to protect others.
