The annual Tree of Light remembrance service has returned to Mary Stevens Hospice after 10 years of being held in different venues around the region.
Each year, staff from the Stourbridge hospice organise a remembrance service, inviting the community to come together to pay tribute and celebrate the lives of their loved ones in churches and venues around the region.
However, after a 10-year absence, Hospice staff have taken the decision to invite supporters to the charity's HQ on the Hagley Road, to take in the service under the light of the tree itself. The tree is covered in thousands of tiny lights which are switched on, on the same night of the first service each year and remain lit until the start of January.
This year, the services will be on Thursday 22nd November at 7pm and Saturday 24th November at 4pm. Hospice supporters can sponsor a light on the tree in memory of their loved ones by calling the Fundraising Team on 01384 377 778 or going online to marystevenshospice.co.uk. Keith Judson, Spiritual Care Co-ordinator, Mary Stevens Hospice Group said:
“We can't begin to express how delighted we are that the services will be at the Hospice once again and are so grateful to all of our venue partners around the borough who have made it possible to run this event for the last 10 years.
"But with the completion of all of our building work it seemed the perfect opportunity to invite families to come and join us here and to come together as a community in memory of those we have loved and lost along the road. They will be poignant and hopefully very healing occasions."
