Worries about the much loved festival leaving Weston Park next year have been quashed with a possible expansion to a three day event on the cards.
Virgin, who have sponsored the Weston Park event, and a simultaneous gig at Hylands Park in Chelmsford, for over twenty years pulled out of the sponsorship deal after this years festival, organisers Live Nation confirmed. A Tweet from the official V Festival account said:
Thanks for being a great sponsor @Virgin. 😊 The name of the new festival that continues on the same weekend in 2018 will be announced soon 🎉

Virgin mogul Richard Branson also confirmed the company had ended its support, tweeting that:
“#VFest has been an incredible experience but it’s time to change things up”
V Festival first arrived at Weston Park in 1999, three years after its launch, and attracts around 70,000 people each day. In its early years it was hailed as a celebration of Britpop but has been criticised in recent times for becoming more focussed on numbers over credibility. This Summer, Jay-Z and Pink were the headline attractions.
