A war hero’s grave in a Brierley Hill churchyard has been vandalized.
The grave site of Victoria Cross winner Anthony Booth, who served with the South Staffordshire Regiment, was found wrecked on Tuesday in St Michael's Churchyard.
The damage was discovered when a military history fan visited the churchyard to pay his respects to the retired Army Colour-Sergeant. The Victoria Cross Trust has been notified of the damage, which is believed to have been caused deliberately,
Booth, received the VC from Queen Victoria, for covering the retreat of 50 soldiers on March 12 1879 when a large group of Zulus launched an attack on the British on the Intombe River.
