Volunteers celebrate funding for Wordsley Park improvements

Volunteers at Wordsley Park have welcomed section 106 funding for improvements totalling almost £25,000.

Working with Dudley Council, the Friends of Wordsley Park have identified several priorities for the park, including access to the play area and tarmac works around the MUGA.

Following on from improvements previously made to the play area, the council will improve access by removing a dog grid as well as installing a self-closing gate and providing a new tarmac path. Finally, the council plans to paint the fencing around the facility to complete this site.

Works to this site will be programmed over the forthcoming months. The park will remain open as normal throughout, but there could be limited access to the play area during the works.

Councillor Damian Corfield, cabinet member for Highways and Environment, said: “We are delighted to support the Friends group, who do such amazing work in this park, with this pot of section 106 funding worth £24,800.

“Dudley Council recently consulted with volunteers at the park, as well as park users and people in the local area, and there was a strong community support for the work.”
